Prioritizing Your Wellness with Meditation

Oftentimes the stress, feelings of anxiety, and even low self-esteem displayed in the lives of children and families originate from external words spoken and not internal beliefs.

A student says something hateful to another student…

An adult in frustration says something unkind to a child…

And those words unconsciously take root. As a Wellness Counselor, I can tell you for a fact, children and adults often recycle one statement or belief in their mind for years.

This affects their belief in themselves, ability to excel at school/work, and their interpersonal relationships.

The simple act of meditation helps to let those beliefs and hurtful moments go. Learning how to do this at a young age can reduce years of anxiety.

It’s Essential for 2022

As children return to school and adults continue to parent and teach, we must be mindful of how the business as usual approach was not working.

Bullying, isolation, anxiety, and self-harm increased in the past several years, and though school and work have resumed, having a space to release in a healthy way is necessary for both children and adults.

Meditation creates a safe space for reflection, healing, and release.

Whether using movement in meditation, silence, breathwork, or journaling, each session is different, yet all work to incorporate self-care and healthy release to decrease feelings of anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem.

Meditation is a form of Self-Care

With busy work and school schedules we forget the importance of taking care of the inner self.

Exams, bills, tests, and meetings take precedent, yet studies show that students who are calmer and more confident do better at test taking.

By taking one simple moment to calm the mind and release the doubts, a student and parent can drastically shift their day, week, and life.

Now is the time to prioritize yourself, your child, your school, or organization.

Establish wellness as a priority in your life and watch the ripple affect it creates all around you.
